West Pak Avocado is looking for a dynamic individual to fill our Shipping Coordinator position.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment.
- Physically compare information and counts of items of incoming and outgoing shipments to
- verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Prepare shipping documents and schedule freight pick-ups as required.
- Examines incoming shipments, documents and rejects damaged items, records shortages, and
- corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications and all items are loaded onto shipment vehicle in a safe and timely manner.
- Properly receive all inbound shipments of products while following all West Pak procedures.
- Coordinate with Quality Control team.
- Records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor and/or purchasing personnel.
- Ensure all products have been inspected prior to releasing driver.
- Conduct daily physical inventory counts at the end of each workday.
- Email daily inventory to designated personnel.
- Visually monitory inventory levels and communicate any shortages on orders to sales.
- Ensure all closing procedures have been completed prior to the end of each day.
- Perform daily entries in Famous of all inbound and outbound shipments, maintaining a 95% of accuracy.
- May maintain department database, prepare routine reports, and file shipping/receiving records.
- Help prepare all orders which are scheduled for next day delivery.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Follow all food safety and good manufacturing practices
- Other duties as assigned and assist in other departments when needed
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 1 year of shipping and receiving experience. Forklift experience a plus
- Experience working in the produce industry preferred; working knowledge of fruit stages, sizes and customer specifications preferred; working knowledge of refrigerated product desirable
- Primus GFS and Famous experience, a plus

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
The essential functions of this job require frequent standing, walking, and upper body movements. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to have full repetitive use of both hands and fingers (simple grasping).
Physical demands include bending, stooping, reaching above and below shoulder level. Lifting and carrying are also essential. The employee will also be in contact with chemical products and machinery.
Additionally, the incumbent will work near moving mechanical parts, stacks, pallets and may be exposed in high places and surfaces. The noise level in the work environment is usually high. The incumbent may be exposed to situations in which occasional lifting may be involved (up to 50 lbs.), with or without assistance. There will be exposure to situations of working in a hot or cold environment from 38°F-60°F and will frequently be exposed to hot or wet (humid) locations.
Day Shift, Monday through Friday with flexibility for O/T and weekends as needed
