Job Description

The Shrink Conversion Worker is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of production machinery used in the shrink conversion process, including Seamers, Slitters, Rewinders, and Core Cutters. This role supports production by preparing materials, setting up equipment, running machinery, performing quality inspections, completing documentation, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. Consistency, accuracy, and adherence to safety and quality standards are essential to success in this position.







Specific Qualifications




  • Ability to operate and learn production machinery, including basic mechanical aptitude.

  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards.

  • Ability to read job specification sheets and follow instructions accurately.

  • Basic computer skills for entering machine tolerances, parameters, and production data.

  • Ability to use measuring tools and perform routine quality checks.

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

  • Ability to work safely in a fast-paced production environment.

  • Manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred but not required.







Basic Responsibilities



Operate production machinery safely and efficiently while meeting all production, quality, and sanitation requirements.







Specific Responsibilities




  1. Prepare production supplies, such as boxes and cores.

  2. Conduct daily machine inspections and preventative maintenance tasks.

  3. Perform general setup for production machinery.

  4. Install plates, rollers, guides, blades, and related equipment components.

  5. Read and understand job specification sheets to determine setup and production requirements.

  6. Enter tolerances, parameters, and settings into machine computer systems.

  7. Load, center, and web material into machines properly.

  8. Maintain correct machine speeds, tension, and settings throughout the shift.

  9. Routinely inspect product samples and compare them to job specifications.

  10. Perform quality checks and inspect finished goods for defects or non-conformance.

  11. Accurately complete all required job paperwork and production documentation.

  12. Pack finished product per customer and job requirements.

  13. Clean the machine and maintain an organized work area.

  14. Meet production efficiency and quality goals.

  15. Assist in training new employees on machinery, processes, and procedures.

  16. Support other production tasks as needed.

  17. Comply with all plant rules, safety guidelines, and work procedures.

  18. Perform other duties as assigned by management and permitted under the union contract.
