The Small Tool & Equipment Manager is responsible for managing the company's inventory of small tools and light equipment while performing routine maintenance to ensure all equipment is safe, reliable, and job-ready. Approximately 50% of this position is dedicated to equipment coordination and inventory management, and 50% is dedicated to the maintenance and upkeep of small equipment. The ideal candidate is organized, mechanically inclined, and enjoys working in a fast-paced construction environment.
Responsibilities
- Check out and receive company-owned small tools, jumping jacks, skid steer attachments, and other light equipment
- Maintain accurate records of equipment assignments, including who has each item and its current location.
- Follow up with employees and supervisors to ensure equipment is returned on time
- Inspect returned equipment to verify it:
- Is fueled and ready for the next use.
- Is clean and free of excessive dirt or debris.
- Is in proper working condition.
- Has no unreported damage or maintenance concerns.
- Coordinate repairs and communicate maintenance needs with the shop when issues are identified.
- Keep equipment storage organized and easily accessible.
- Serve as the primary field contact for equipment requests and coordination across all company divisions.
- Report lost, damaged, or missing equipment promptly.
- Promote proper care and accountability of company tools and equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience with construction equipment, mechanical maintenance, or equipment management preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Class A CDL preferred, or a clean driving record with the willingness to obtain a CDL to transport equipment as needed.
- Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and recordkeeping.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Frequently lift and carry equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, kneel, climb, and work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Safely load, unload, and secure equipment for transport.
