The Water Institute at UNC was established in 2009 within the Gillings School of Global Public Health. The Institute works to create a more water-secure world through research, policy, and practice. It serves as a platform for mobilizing knowledge and resources across UNC to address critical water and sanitation challenges domestically and globally.
The purpose of this position is to support research communication and community engagement activities for two of the UNC Water Institute's Communities of Practice (CoPs): the WASH in Healthcare Facilities (HCF) CoP and the WASH Circuit Riders (CR) CoP. These CoPs convene a global audience of approximately 1,000 practitioners, researchers, and policy actors to address critical challenges in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in clinical and healthcare facility settings, as well as the long-term sustainability of rural water systems.
The incumbent serves as the operational lead for both CoPs, coordinating approximately 18 bimonthly webinars per year, managing all communications channels, and producing knowledge products that translate technical content into accessible content for a global practitioner audience.
The position will also support other members of the Water Institute team in research and evidence-building activities related to the CoPs. Duties may include, but are not limited to, supporting data collection through qualitative interviews and focus groups, disseminating surveys and analyzing results, and compiling evidence through systematic reviews.
