Social Media & Marketing Manager

About the Role
Successful professional hockey team is seeking a creative, detail and results-oriented Social Media & Marketing Manager to lead and grow our brand presence across all major social media  and relevant marketing platforms. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing content strategies, spearheading paid advertising and marketing campaigns, increasing audience engagement, managing team text and email platforms, and driving measurable business results through social media and all applicable marketing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a scheduling/planning calendar across all social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, Snapchat, and any emerging channels of value
  • Oversee the daily operations of team social media channels
  • Manage all marketing trade agreements and ensure that all obligations are fulfilled
  • Grow online communities and engage with followers, customers, and fans
  • Drive customer engagement, website and social media traffic, and brand awareness, leveraging social media, direct email and telecommunications, and event-based marketing, in alignment with our broader company marketing strategy. Create engaging, on-brand graphics and tactics to strengthen the team’s digital presence and support sales initiatives
  • Conceptualize, film, and edit original short-form video content for all social media platforms to engage with followers and build on brand and player identities, while focusing on upcoming events in a creative, trend-conscious way
  • Monitor social media channels consistently and in real-time, providing timely customer service and engage in real-time interaction with various departments and patrons during designated events, including evenings, weekends, and possibly holidays, as needed
  • Plan, design, and execute visually engaging text and email marketing campaigns using audience segmentation to promote upcoming events, game and team results, and ticket or merchandise promotions ultimately leading to increased sales
  • Actively engage with patrons, fans, artists, and local media across all social platforms to foster community and brand loyalty; always be on the lookout for new opportunities
  • Demonstrate a proactive and creative approach towards brainstorming and executing community marketing techniques for shows such as grassroots, community engagement, promotional tie-ins, and partnership opportunities
  • Prepare and send “Know-Before-You-Go” and other customer and fan-facing marketing material and graphics
  • Collaborate with team channel leaders to maintain a consistent look, tone, and feel across all communication pieces
  • Identify, evaluate, and leverage relevant social media trends and proactively incorporate relevant content ideas to enhance engagement and brand visibility
  • Represent the marketing channel, on-site, at designated events, both on and off property
  • Assist with planning and execution of marketing initiatives, including community outreach and basic design/graphics projects
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall organizational success, marketing and, team objectives

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing business social media accounts and campaigns
  • Strong knowledge of paid social media advertising platforms, including:  
    • Meta Ads Manager (Facebook & Instagram)
    •  LinkedIn Ads
    •  TikTok Ads
    • YouTube Advertising
    •  X (Twitter) Ads
  • Experience with audience targeting, retargeting, conversion tracking, and campaign optimization
  • Strong understanding of social media analytics and reporting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and content creation skills
  • Basic graphic design and video editing knowledge using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (preferred), CapCut, or similar
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of SEO and content marketing strategies
  • Experience with direct to consumer text and email marketing platforms
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and marketing automation tools
  • Experience creating short-form video content for Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts
  • Strong understanding of lead generation and conversion-focused marketing
  • Experience working with Google Analytics and tracking campaign performance
  • Experience using social media management tools such as Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprout Social, or similar platforms
  • Capacity to interpret data, relay findings, and make strategic recommendations

  • This position requires work inside and outside of the building, as needed based on events, including outdoor exposure 
  • In-season attendance of all home games, including evenings, weekends and possibly holidays, based on games scheduled is required
