Job Description
Position Summary: The Central Falls School District seeks (2) Special Education LEAs (1-preschool & elementary and 1-middle & secondary) who are organized, compliance-driven, child-centered, and able to commit the resources of the district. The LEA works alongside the Director and Assistant Director of Student Services to chair IEP Team meetings and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and laws. This is an administrative position, 10.5 months 205 days, beginning August 2026.
General Description of Duties:
Oversees IEP development, ensures compliance with timelines, federal and state laws and regulations, and manages required paperwork
Oversees the process of special education referral, evaluation, and program planning for students in assigned schools; the district spans preschool through grade 12+
Acts as Chairperson for all Initial and Re-Evaluation Eligibility Team Meetings, as well as other meetings, at the discretion of the Director/Assistant Director of Student Services
Coordinates scheduling of Team Meetings among the staff members. If an evaluation is being completed, the LEA assures that it is completed within the required timelines.
Facilitates discussion of student performance, evaluation results, and helps synthesize and clarify student learning needs, and compiles a final document (team meeting summary and official notes) immediately following the meetings noting essential points
In the case of disagreement among any Team Members, the LEA makes the final determination regarding the contents of the Individualized Educational Program (IEP) and placement.
Meets with individual special education staff as needed to ensure appropriate implementation of IEPs and problem solve instructional or other challenges
Actively monitors students' performance in meeting IEP goals and curriculum expectations.
Ensures that IEP goals and objectives are measurable and student-centered
Monitors progress reports to ensure reports are based on IEP goals and objectives and measured using student data
Actively monitors and oversees the annual review and re-evaluation process for students whose placements are in out-of-district programs, as assigned by the Director of Student Services; communicates regularly with the Director regarding progress and any concerns to ensure financial resources are appropriately allocated
Has the authority to commit resources of the School District during Team Meetings

Salary Range: $95,000-$105,000 based on experience

Job Requirements
Requirements:
Rhode Island Special Education Teacher license or closely related field
Rhode Island Certification for Special Education Administrator, or must be in process (to be completed by June 2027), and/or hold a Principal license at the appropriate grade/level
Master’s degree or Bachelor's (+) in Special Education and/or related discipline from an approved institution
Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience in special education at any level
Strong communication, conflict resolution, organizational, and leadership skills
Knowledge of PowerSchool IEP and student data management system
Bilingual preferred.
Citizenship, residency or work visa required
