Staff Accountant
About the Job
This full-time Staff Accountant role is based at our Corporate Office in Birmingham, Alabama. The role in the Finance Department serves as a key contributor to the corporate accounting team, supporting the revenue recognition, financial reporting, and account analysis processes to drive high-quality decision making for the business. This role contributes directly to the accuracy and integrity of monthly financial reporting and collaborates closely with the broader corporate accounting team, executive management, and cross-functional departments in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment.
Role Responsibilities
Revenue Recognition
• Review and analyze sales data weekly and work with business partners to maintain data integrity
• Prepare and post monthly journal entries
Incentive and Inventory Reporting
• Prepare and analyze reporting weekly to enable the business to make informed decisions
• Ensure timely and accurate recording of incentive income from vendors
Financial Analysis
• Analyze financial data and provide insights to ensure the accuracy of financial statements and support the decision making process
• Work on special projects as needed
Role Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Previous accounting experience preferred
• Detail-oriented with the ability to analyze large volumes of data
• Demonstrated research and problem-solving skills
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Ability to adapt to changes in work environment and assignments
Work Environment & Expectations
• Travel requirements: Minimal, if any
• Position Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
• Must be able to sit at a computer or desk for extended periods of time
• Must be able to use hands and arms to operate keyboard, telephone, and for repetitive motion activities
• Must be able to lift objects up to 25 lbs. with or without assistance
• Must be able to communicate using speech, sight, and sound with or without an assistive device
• Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, or crouch while performing daily activities
