Staff Accountant

Purpose:

We are looking for a staff accountant to join our team for day-to-day accounting activities. The ideal candidate should enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where creative thinking, problem solving, analysis, efficiency, and initiative are required. The successful candidate should be a team-player, excellent communicator and be able to multitask while maintaining a high regard for the details. Adaptability and positivity are key qualities to be successful in this role.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Learn month-end close process and assist staff and management throughout the close process.
  • Prepare general ledger entries in accordance with GAAP
  • Prepare detailed account reconciliations by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system, external reports, and various corporate departments
  • Assist with documentation of business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls and standard operating procedures
  • Analyze information and options by developing spreadsheets and other ad hoc reports as needed
  • Develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes.
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
  • Assist Management with system implementations and testing
  • Assist with year-end audit preparation and documentation
  • Liaison with Finance Department personnel and other teammates as necessary
  • All other duties as requested

General Statement - Performs the job assigned complying with Company policies and procedures, business code of ethics, FLSA regulations, and all applicable laws, as well as ensuring confidentiality, reliability, quality, and productivity.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor�s Degree in accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience with Financial Accounting Standards.
  • 1-5 years� experience in accounting field, preferably in a Corporate Accounting setting.
  • At least 1 year of demonstrated automated general ledger accounting experience.
  • At least 1 year of intermediate level experience with spreadsheet applications.
  • Knowledge of SFAS rules
  • Knowledge of Sage 500 desirable
  • Intermediate proficiency in applications of word processing, accounting, and spreadsheet software
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Time management skills
  • Demonstrate initiative in understanding process flows and internal controls
  • Self-motivated to learn, discover, improve, and grow
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment that promotes inclusiveness and communication among team members.
