About the Position

Working primarily from our office in Indianapolis for the first 90 days, the Staff Accountant  performs accounting tasks with accuracy and attention to detail. This position is hybrid eligible with the option to work remotely up to 2 days per week after the first 90 days depending upon performance. Experience in fund accounting, preferably legal accounting is preferred.


Responsibilities of the Position

  • Invoices clients in a timely and accurate fashion each month
  • Answers client financial questions (about invoices, flat-fee projects, etc.) with compassion, speed and accuracy
  • Monitors cashflow and assists with cashflow projections as needed
  • Ensures all entries are consistent with GAAP and accrual accounting
  • Completing daily bookkeeping and accounting tasks such as managing the Quickbooks Online bank feeds, entering bills into Bill.com for approval and payment, and similar 
  • Processes returns requested by clients or attorneys
  • Deposits checks and performs banking transactions within the two-touch internal control system
  • Completes inter-company allocations and transfers as needed
  • Handles month close activities within a timely manner and reports findings to leadership
  • Manages/accounts for client trust accounts
  • Conducts periodic reviews to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Follows internal control and all other financial policies
  •  Other responsibilities as assigned


Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably with experience in legal or nonprofit
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or similar
  • Preferred CPA exam-eligible or CPA license
  • Comfortable with standard technology platforms including Quickbooks Online, Google Sheets, Excel, Gmail, Google Calendar, Bill.com
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to learn how to use CRM software like Salesforce for report generation and data management purposes (prior experience not needed)
  • Desire to help nonprofit organizations reach their missions
  • Strong time management skills
  • Personal and professional integrity and business ethics, as well as respect for others
  • Positive and “can do” attitude


Compensation and Benefits

This full-time position has a full earning potential of $70,000-$100,000, dependent upon experience and performance-based bonuses. Additional benefits include our 403(b) Retirement Savings Plan with a 5% employer match, health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, paid holidays, paid opportunities for professional development and continuing education, and other personal and professional benefits.


The first 90 days of the position will be in the Indianapolis office. Dependent upon performance, this position will have the option to work a hybrid schedule, with up to two days per week remote.
