Position Summary
Herring Bank is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant II to join our accounting team. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who has progressed beyond entry-level responsibilities and is ready to take ownership of reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close activities, and financial analysis.
The Staff Accountant II will work closely with the Accounting Manager and Controller to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the Bank's financial records while supporting key accounting, reporting, and audit functions.
What You'll Do
· Prepare and post journal entries.
· Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly account reconciliations.
· Manage assigned general ledger accounts and investigate variances.
· Participate in month-end and quarter-end close processes.
· Assist with financial reporting and audit preparation.
· Research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
· Support vendor payment and wire transfer processes.
· Collaborate with departments across the Bank to ensure accurate financial reporting.
· Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies.
What We're Looking For
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
· 2–5 years of accounting experience.
· Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
· Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
· Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
· Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
· Effective written and verbal communication skills.
