Job Description

Job Summary: The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting department by maintaining financial records, preparing reports, performing account reconciliations, and assisting with the monthly and annual close processes. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data while maintaining compliance with company policies and accounting standards. The Staff Accountant will work closely with the Controller and other departments to support financial operations and reporting. 


Responsibilities: 

  • Perform monthly account reconciliations and prepare journal entries based on those reconciliations
  • Reconcile cash and credit card accounts on a weekly basis
  • Review and process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
  • Maintain sales tax exemption certificates. 
  • Assist in proper application of sales and use tax along with filing returns.
  • Make collection phone calls daily; Send collection letters as needed
  • Process customer credit applications by contacting references and banks to ensure creditworthiness.
  • Assist with month end close process
  • Assist with payroll duties
  • Reconcile and post project and overhead weekly hours for contracting employees
  • Performs other related duties as required


Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • One to two (1-2) years accounting experience
  • General knowledge of accounting and understanding of general ledger accounts
  • Knowledge of the accounts payable and accounts receivable process
  • Knowledge of accruals and month-end entry
  • Good listening and dependability traits with the initiative to learn
  • Detail oriented
  • Personal computer skills: Microsoft Office products 
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills 
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Independence skills: a self-starter with the ability to work efficiently on their own while knowing when to ask questions
  • Strong confidentiality skills

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA or other related professional designations preferred
  • Experience with Oracle NetSuite ERP System or ADP Payroll Software
  • Knowledge of financial reporting and internal controls 


Work Environment:

  • Standard in office setting will be required
  • Standard business hours from 7:00am to 4:00pm
