JOB SUMMARY AND QUALIFICATIONS:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to join our finance team in Louisville, KY. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and supporting the accounting department with various tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our financial processes.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with balance sheet account cleanup and reconcile various balance sheet accounts on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis; includes a focus on AP and AR.
  • Assist with Accounts Payable including identifying process efficiencies. 
  • Assist with grants billing and processing as needed
  • Prepare and enter approved journal entries.
  • Create and upload reports for EFTs and the positive pay program.
  • Provide customer service to external and internal partners related to receivables.
  • Assist as needed with the annual audit; prepare requested audit schedules.
  • Assist with the identification of deficiencies in internal controls and the development of compensating/alternate controls to strengthen the identified weaknesses.
  • Continuously search for improvements to accelerate/improve the billing process and cash application process.
  • Serve as key player in accounting system conversion.
  • Other projects as assigned.
 
WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a related education/experience combination.
  • Proficient at Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to develop and integrate AI applications.
  • The ability to effectively handle confidential information and materials.
  • Proven oral and written communication skills.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in non-profit accounting.
