Description

This position is part of a growing and evolving fundraising team and development department. From 2018 to 2025, the development team has grown contributions and donations revenue by 190%. Along with that growth has come the need to re-set around fundamental operations so that Victory Junction can sustain this growth, balance opportunities and challenges, and align core functions and roles. 


The Stewardship Specialist will strengthen donor relationships by working alongside the director of stewardship and mission engagement to implement a comprehensive stewardship program that recognizes, engages, and retains supporters of Victory Junction at all giving levels. This role ensures donors and friends feel valued, informed, and connected to the mission through thoughtful communication, personalized experiences, and consistent engagement opportunities.

The Stewardship Specialist will also work alongside the director of stewardship and mission engagement to manage Victory Junction’s Camp Ambassador Program.


Working closely with development, marketing and communications, facilities, and program teams, the successful candidate will play a key role in building a culture of gratitude and engagement across the organization.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Donor Stewardship & Engagement 

  • Assist with managing a multi-tiered stewardship strategy for individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
  • Assist with creating meaningful donor touchpoints such as impact updates, behind-the-scenes content, and mission-focused experiences across digital and print platforms and in-person contacts.
  • Support stewardship of major donors through customized communication plans and collaboration with frontline fundraisers.

Impact Reporting & Communications

  • Assist with producing high-quality donor reports, impact stories, and annual stewardship materials.
  • Partner with program staff to gather data, outcomes, and stories that demonstrate donor impact.
  • Work with marketing and communications team members to ensure donor-facing content is consistent, compelling, and mission-aligned.

Events & Donor Experiences 

  • Work with development team members to assist with planning and executing stewardship events such as appreciation receptions, tours, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Assist with coordinating logistics, invitations, follow-up, and donor recognition at events.
  • Support leadership and board members in donor engagement activities – occasionally in the evening.

Recognition Programs

  • Assist with managing donor recognition societies and naming opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate donor listings for publications, signage, and digital platforms.
  • Assist with ensuring recognition policies are consistently applied and updated as needed.

Data & Systems Management 

  • Maintain stewardship activity records in Raiser’s Edge and CampSite.
  • Assist in tracking donor engagement metrics to inform and refine stewardship strategies.
  • Support development operations in maintaining accurate donor information and reporting.

Team collaboration 

  • Work closely with development team members and team members from other departments to coordinate stewardship efforts and strengthen intra- and inter-departmental relationships.
  • Contribute to development team planning, goal-setting, and donor-centric initiatives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree, associate’s degree, or equivalent experience required
  • 3-5 years' experience in donor relations, stewardship, fundraising or nonprofit communications preferred
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities
  • Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards
  • Experience working with donor databases or CRM systems preferred
  • Experience supporting major gift or campaign stewardship preferred 
  • Familiarity with donor engagement strategies preferred
