Job Description
About the Job:
Responsible for fabricating steel main members (beams and columns) as well as fabricating other projects (tube sockets, roof opening frames, etc…). Fabricators are responsible for the proper placement and assembly of weld parts (piecework). Must be able to read Structural Steel drawings as well as be able to recognize and uphold quality standards. Must be able to MIG weld and work with metal core wire.

SHIFT HOURS: The night shift operates from 9pm to 6am Sunday night through Thursday night.  Candidates who are hired on for the night shift are required to complete two weeks of work on the day shift before transferring to night shift.
OTHER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proficient with cutting torch to cope and detail components for proper fit-up.
  • Knowledge of a variety of structural members (beams, channel, angle).
  • The layout of holes, cutouts, notches, etc. to specified dimensions and within noted tolerances.
  • Must be able to identify and gather components needed from BOM.
  • Ability to plan work and keep projects on schedule.
  • Must be able to pass a basic tack test and fillet weld test.
 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to walk and stand throughout an eight-hour day.
  • Must be able to consistently lift 80 lbs. or turn over a beam or column.
  • Must be able to repetitively use arms, hands, and fingers in the manipulation of parts and weld gun.
  • Must demonstrate good hand/eye coordination.
  • Must demonstrate good manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to read, evaluate, and respond to product specifications and drawings, and perform normal math calculations easily.
  • Must have strong general mechanical skills.
  • Must be able to pass drug and criminal background screenings.
