Job Description

Student & Young Adult Ministry Director

The Opportunity:

Christian Community Church is seeking a spiritually mature, relationally strong, team building ministry leader to serve the next season of Student & Young Adult Ministry in alignment with CCC’s mission, values, discipleship pathway, and the vision and direction of the Lead Pastor, Executive Pastor, and leadership team. This role will cultivate vibrant, fun, discipleship centered ministry environments where students and young adults are known, connected, formed in the way of Jesus, equipped to serve, and meaningfully integrated into the life of the church.

ROLE AT A GLANCE

  • Position Title: Student & Young Adult Ministry Director
  • Location: Columbus, Ohio
  • Reports To: Executive Pastor
  • Ministry Scope: Middle school, high school, and young adult ministry
  • Core Focus: Vision aligned discipleship, relational ministry, volunteer leadership, parent partnership, staff collaboration, and sustainable ministry execution
  • Church Mission: To befriend people with the love of God and walk with them in the way of Jesus so that all of Columbus can flourish.
  • Core Values: Faithfulness, Courage, Humility, Wisdom, and Compassionate Grace

POSITION SUMMARY

The Student & Young Adult Ministry Director provides vision aligned leadership for CCC’s student and young adult ministries by implementing ministry goals and objectives in partnership with CCC’s leadership team. Rather than operating as an independent ministry owner, the Director translates CCC’s mission, values, and Living the Way discipleship priorities into age appropriate ministry rhythms for middle school students, high school students, and young adults.

The Director cultivates a ministry environment that is spiritually grounded, relationally warm, engaging, fun, safe, and fully aligned with CCC’s broader discipleship pathway. Through intentional leadership and disciple making, the Director develops volunteers and emerging leaders, strengthens trust and partnership with parents, establishes consistent ministry rhythms, and helps students and young adults take meaningful next steps in faith, community, service, and mission.

DESIRED OUTCOMES

What Success Looks Like:

  1. Thriving student ministry: Implement a ministry that reflects CCC’s vision and is engaging, spiritually meaningful, relationally magnetic, and fun for middle school and high school students.
  2. Healthy volunteer team: Identify, recruit, train, empower, and care for adult volunteers who can help carry the ministry in alignment with CCC’s expectations, values, and discipleship direction.
  3. Strong parent partnership: Communicate clearly and consistently so parents understand CCC’s vision, calendar, expectations, safety practices, and discipleship direction.
  4. Relational connection: Establish leadership systems and ministry rhythms that help students and young adults feel known, encouraged, and connected beyond formal programming.
  5. Young adult pathway: In partnership with staff leadership, implement an intentional strategy for young adults to belong, grow, serve, and participate in the life of CCC.
  6. Churchwide alignment: Consistently translate CCC’s mission, values, and Living the Way discipleship emphasis in an age appropriate and compelling manner.
  7. Healthy ministry systems: Establish repeatable rhythms that support CCC approved plans for communication, volunteer onboarding, events, budget stewardship, safety, and evaluation.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Vision Aligned Student Ministry Leadership:

  • Partner with the Lead Pastor, Executive Pastor, and leadership team to translate CCC’s mission and discipleship priorities into a compelling ministry approach for middle school and high school students.
  • Plan and lead regular gatherings, small groups, teaching rhythms, events, service opportunities, retreats, camps, and relational connection points that support CCC’s ministry direction.
  • Create ministry environments that students want to attend and can confidently invite friends into while remaining aligned with CCC’s theology, values, safety expectations, and broader church rhythms.

Volunteer Team Building:

Planning, Administration & Stewardship:

  • Develop calendars, budgets, communication plans, volunteer schedules, registration processes, and event logistics in coordination with staff leadership and with strong follow-through.
  • Ensure ministry environments are safe, prepared, organized, and consistent with CCC policies and expectations.
  • Evaluate ministry effectiveness with leadership input and adjust plans based on feedback, participation, volunteer capacity, and discipleship fruit.

Staff Collaboration & Churchwide Alignment:

  • Work under the direction of the Executive Pastor and collaboratively with the Lead Pastor, staff, elders, and ministry leaders to strengthen CCC’s overall discipleship pathway.
  • Support successful transitions between children’s ministry, student ministry, young adult ministry, life groups, serving teams, and broader church life.
