Job Summary
The COFAC Dean’s office is seeking a friendly and dependable Student Assistant to support office operations, student engagement initiatives for the college and serve as a resource for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This role provides opportunities to build customer service, communication, and organizational skills in a dynamic campus environment.
Essential Job Functions
- Greet students, faculty, staff, and visitors in a welcoming and professional manner.
- Answer phones, take messages, and route calls appropriately.
- Monitor building activity and report issues to staff as needed
- Perform clerical tasks such as filing, scanning, or copying
- Support leadership and service program operations, including event preparation and promotion
Minimum and Desired Qualifications
- Must be enrolled at Lamar University with a minimum 2.5 GPA
- Must be a currently enrolled Lamar University student in good standing.
- Major must be in the College of Fine Arts & Communication
- Dependable, punctual, professional, and able to work independently or with a team.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and attention to detail.
- Customer service, receptionist, or office experience.
- Familiarity with campus resources and departments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; Strong customer service orientation; Ability to multitask in a busy environment; Dependable, punctual, and professional; Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information appropriately
