Salary: Minimum Wage
strengths-based college, using the CliftonStrengths program with incoming
students, so that all students learn about their own strengths and how they can
apply them to be more engaged and successful. Student leaders, serving in the
role of Strengths Ambassadors, will visit each College Foundations Seminar
class, and present the introductory lesson for these students. They will lead over outreach and programming during the semester. Learn more about

Serving
as a Strengths Ambassador is a great way to
develop leadership skills, gain professional experience, and serve as an
important role in the college community. Students in this role will receive significant training on presentation
skills, coaching and understanding the strengths-based approach to academic
success while working with professional staff on the Student Support team.
Ambassadors will be paid at the student assistant rate (minimum wage) for
training and hours worked during the fall and spring semesters, and may also be
eligible for additional benefits. This
leadership experience can be listed on the Co-Curricular Transcript that
accompanies an academic transcript, and students in this role may receive
letters of recommendation for transfer schools/scholarship
applications/employment.
Strengths Ambassadors
will complete about 30 hours of mandatory paid training in July-August before
the semester starts (some online and some on the Utica campus).
During each semester
Ambassadors will work 6-10 hours/week scheduled around their classes and other
obligations. The majority of the work will be based on the Utica campus with
some virtual and on the Rome campus.
The start of the semester
will be focused on presenting to new students. Ambassadors will independently
be presenting a set workshop introducing students to strengths in CF100
classes. Once presentations are completed, a set weekly schedule of about 6-10
hours/week will be developed. During office hours Ambassadors will promote
strengths through individual & group projects, support other initiatives
within the Student Support team, and attend a weekly staff meeting.
Process
All students interested
in serving as a Strengths Ambassador must complete the application online, including asking a
faculty or staff member to serve as a reference. Applications will be reviewed
beginning Friday, April 10th and continue until all positions are
