Do Great Things! Durham Technical Community College is hiring a Work Study employee. The ideal candidate should have a strong work ethic and a desire to gain practical experience in their field of study. Responsibilities include assisting with various tasks related to the day-to-day operations of our organization, as well as engaging in hands-on training in their field of study. The successful candidate will have excellent time management, communication, and teamwork skills. This is a great opportunity for a student to gain valuable experience and prepare for their future career.
Examples of Duties
Create a welcoming environment
Provide support and assistance to the assigned department.
Perform other appropriate duties that may be necessary to support the needs of the department as assigned.
Students will assist with event setup, breakdown, check-in and registration, logistical management and navigation, and task completion for Student Leadership and Engagement hosted and collaborative programming, initiatives, and endeavors. When needed, they may help with tasks such as organizing and maintaining an accurate log departmental inventory, handling confidential information without incident, facilitating campus tours, program and event facilitation, administrative/office tasks and developing communication timelines for engagement.
The students may be given a brief focus on volunteerism and will work collaboratively with internal and external campus partners to create and identify service opportunities for current Durham Tech students. The development of marketing materials such as flyers and graphics for social media may also be included in possible tasks for these students. These students will provide holistic support for the Department of Student Services and Enrollment.Minimum Qualifications
Student must be approved by the Financial Aid Department at Durham Technical Community College. Student should complete the Work Study Employment Approval

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.4. Good computer skills as evidenced by experience competence with Microsoft Office products.5. Personal integrity, honesty, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.6. Understanding the mission, goals, and objectives of a community college.Work Study Terms
1. Students may not work more than 20 hours per week unless they have a different contract.2. All work must be performed at the worksite in which a student was hired. Students should be working on campus unless approved by the administration.3. Students must be enrolled in courses required for their program of study in a semester.4. Students may not work when they are scheduled to be in class.5. Students must maintain eligibility with the Satisfactory Academic Policy (SAP) in order to remain eligible for federal work-study. If you fail to meet this requirement, you will immediately lose your work-study eligibility.6. If you are receiving an outside scholarship from a donor (ex. State Employees Scholarship), your work-study award may be adjusted. Please contact a financial aid advisor as soon as you are notified you are a scholarship recipient.7. If you decide to borrow loans, your work-study award may be adjusted. Please consult a financial aid advisor before borrowing a loan.8. Students will submit timesheets correctly completed and by the deadline each month to the Financial Aid Office. If timesheets are not submitted by the deadline, students will not get paid for that pay period. There will not be any exceptions.9. Students will not begin working until the contract is signed and an email is sent informing him/her and the supervisor with a start date from the Financial Aid Office.10. Students cannot work a work-study position and a part-time position with Durham Technical Community College, students must pick one.11. Students will have to notify Financial Aid if they withdraw from a semester because the work-study award will be canceled and the student will stop working immediately for the semester.12. Students will not work when the Durham Technical Community College is officially closed.13. Students will not work past the end date of the contract for the semester.14. Students can not work over their hours on their contract.15. Students that work at least 6 hours a day must show at least a 30-minute unpaid break on their timesheet.
