    TITLE:            Substitute Teacher

    REPORTS TO:        Principal

    JOB GOAL:    To teach students according to county and state policy, mission, core beliefs, academic goals, and target areas.

    QUALIFICATIONS:    
        Possess a valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate.    
        Completion of a clear background check.
        Ability to teach all levels and types of courses.
        Strong written and oral communication skills.
        Demonstrated ability to provide differentiated instruction and intervention to students exhibiting a wide range of abilities and behaviors.
        Any additional combination of training or experience which would lead to successful employment as a Substitute Teacher.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

        Adhere to all federal, state, and district laws and policies.
        Promote and adhere to the district mission, core beliefs, academic goals, and target areas.
        Follow lesson plans as directed.
        Administer and correct assessments.
        Provide report for itinerant teacher.
        Maintain order of classroom and equipment.
        Understand and respond to the unique characteristics of learners.
        Establish and maintain a safe and appropriate learning environment.
        Establish and maintain a learner-centered culture.
        Utilize a variety of research-based instructional strategies.
        Motivate and engage students in learning, problem solving and collaboration.
        Adjust instruction based on a variety of assessments and student responses.
        Engage in collaborative learning opportunities for self-renewal with colleagues.
        Participate in school-wide collaborative efforts to support the success of all students.
        Work with parents, guardians, families and community entities to support student learning and well-being.
        Promote practices and policies that improve school environment and student learning.
        Provide measurable progress of student learning of state-approved curricula.
        Demonstrate professional conduct as defined in law, policy and procedure at the state, district, and school level.
        Perform other duties as assigned.
