Summer Community Assistants, or CAs, serve as vital members of the Office of Student Housing, supporting students, staff, and guests residing in MSU housing facilities during the summer. As live-in staff, they foster a welcoming community within the summer residence hall, while serving as visible leaders and representatives of the university.
In this role, CAs provide a high level of customer service to guests and campus partners by facilitating housing check-in and check-out processes, responding to questions and concerns, and serving as knowledgeable resources for building, campus, and local services.
Summer Community Assistants serve in an on-call rotation for both residence halls and camps and conferences and respond to and help resolve emergencies, crises, and conflict situations. CAs collaborate with their residence hall team, including other Community Assistants and the Area Coordinator, to maintain a safe and supportive environment. Administrative responsibilities include working in the main Housing Office, completing necessary paperwork, and assisting with departmental projects to support overall housing operations.
