Systems Support Technician

The Systems Support Technician will assist the 82d Training Wing at Sheppard AFB in maintaining the training environment by performing various IT-related tasks. They will focus on intrusion detection, vulnerability assessment, and securing remote access points to improve system security. This position plays a crucial role in identifying threats and vulnerabilities and ensuring the protection of systems.
Compensation & Benefits:
Estimated Starting Salary Range for Systems Support Technician: Wage starts at $23 per hour
Pay commensurate with experience.

Systems Support Technician Responsibilities Include:
Assist the 82d Training Wing with the sustainment of the training environment by performing IT-related tasks.
Pay special attention to intrusion detection, identifying and fixing unprotected vulnerabilities, and securing remote access points.
Focus on threats and vulnerabilities to enhance system security.
Ability to implement applicable patches including IA vulnerability alerts (IAVA), IA vulnerability bulletins (IAVB), and technical advisories (TA) for the CE operating system(s).
Ability to install, test, maintain, and upgrade CE operating systems software and hardware to comply with IA requirements.
Ability to install and operate the IT systems in a test configuration manner that does not alter the program code or compromise security safeguards.
Ability to conduct tests of IA safeguards in accordance with established test plans and procedures.
Ability to implement and monitor IA safeguards for CE system(s) in accordance with implementation plans and standard operating procedures.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Systems Support Technician Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory, an Associate's degree or Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
Security+ certification is mandatory within 3 months of the candidate's start date.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Information Assurance (IA) technology or a closely related area, preferably in the US Air Force, Military or DoD setting.
Experience with network security and access control
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Customer Service and multi-tasking
Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
