Position Summary
The Technical Design Assistant provides administrative, technical, and operational support to the Technical Design team throughout the product lifecycle. This role is responsible for coordinating fittings, managing sample flow, maintaining product information within PLM systems, supporting technical documentation, and ensuring effective communication between internal teams and external partners. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and proficient in Adobe Illustrator and PLM systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and distribute fit lists prior to fittings to all appropriate cross-functional teams.
- Organize, prepare, and steam samples for fittings, ensuring all garments are presentation-ready.
- Assist with sample specification reviews for prototypes, sales samples, and other development milestones as needed.
- Support the Technical Design team during fittings by taking detailed fit notes and assisting with fit evaluations.
- Annotate, compile, and distribute fit comments and documentation following fittings.
- Create and update technical sketches, garment details, and related visual assets using Adobe Illustrator.
- Support the maintenance and accuracy of product information, specifications, and workflow tracking within PLM systems.
- Coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments, including package preparation, shipping label creation, receipt, opening, and distribution of packages.
- Assist with TOP sample approvals, including communicating approvals and confirmations to factories and vendors as required.
- Maintain organized records and support workflow management across multiple styles, categories, and development calendars.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Design, Product Development, Merchandising, Production, and Sourcing.
- Provide general administrative and operational support to the Technical Design team.
- Perform additional ad hoc duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of experience in apparel technical design, product development, or a related function preferred.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator for technical flats, sketches, and visual communication.
- Experience working with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, vendors, and external partners.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, team-oriented approach.
