Telecommunicator I
RECRUITMENT ANNOUNCEMENT
Surry County E911 Communications is taking applications for a full-time position of Telecommunicator I. Employee will work 12 hour shifts (either 6am-6pm or 6pm-6am). The center has six (6) consoles with four (4) of those manned 24/7. One console is dedicated to the fire service, one to EMS and Rescue, and one to Law Enforcement. All Telecommunicators are trained on all consoles. Job Requirements: The position requires a high school diploma or GED. Within the first year of employment, the selected candidate must complete the following courses: DCI (Division of Criminal Information) EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatch) Basic Telecommunicator Class CPR Certification EFD (Emergency Fire Dispatch) ETC (Emergency Telecommunicator Course) Other requirements as required Desired: Previous experience at a 911 Communications Center. Working geographical knowledge of the County. Knowledge and skills in operation of computer systems. Ability to use communication skills in a calm and direct manner. Good typing/computer skills are also desired. Salary Range: Grade 64 $37,310 - $61,446 (based on education, experience and training). Applications will be taken at NC Works Career Center, 942 W.
