Temporary position to Full-Time Employment
The Production Line Technician plays a vital role in maintenance and production operations. Reporting to the Production Manager, this position is responsible for operating production equipment, assisting with basic machine maintenance, and ensuring production processes run safely, efficiently, and effectively. The Production Line Technician supports the operation and functionality of production line equipment while adhering to established production standards, safety requirements, quality expectations, and company procedures.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Production Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, quality standards, customer requirements, and established operating procedures.
- Work closely with the Production Supervisor, Line Leads, and Maintenance Technicians to coordinate production schedules and maximize production efficiency.
- Participate in daily production activities by operating production lines and assisting with special projects as assigned.
- Monitor production line performance during live production runs and assist in resolving operational issues to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
- Perform basic equipment setup, line adjustments, and changeovers to support efficient production operations.
- Verify that raw materials, components, and supplies are available and properly staged to support uninterrupted production.
- Guide and support Material Handlers to ensure adherence to production processes and efficient material flow.
- Provide technical assistance and operational support to production team members to help achieve safety, quality, and production goals.
- Train, coach, and assist team members on production line adjustments, equipment setup, changeovers, and safe operating procedures.
- Monitor production waste and implement practices to minimize scrap and material loss.
- Track and document production line downtime to identify opportunities for improved operational efficiency.
- Inspect finished products throughout the production process to ensure they meet established quality standards and customer specifications.
Maintenance Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Maintenance team to support daily production by performing basic machine operation, equipment adjustments during production, equipment breakdown at the completion of production runs, and setup/changeovers for subsequent production orders.
- Evaluate production equipment to ensure safe operation and proper functionality, promptly reporting equipment concerns.
- Partner with the Maintenance team to ensure preventive maintenance activities are completed, properly documented, and supported through daily operational training.
- Assist with basic equipment troubleshooting and support maintenance personnel during equipment repairs as needed.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and equipment records as required.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualification requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing or production environment preferred.
- Basic Knowledge of industry-specific equipment, machinery and hand tools.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and accuracy.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently; bilingual preferred (English/Spanish)
- Basic mechanic aptitude and willingness to learn production equipment operations and maintenance.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the workday.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and perform repetitive physical tasks.
- Ability to lift up and carry up to 40 pounds.
