Job Description

JOB TITLE: Airport Terminal Maintenance Supervisor

JOB CLASS NUMBER: MGT805

REPORTS TO: Airport Terminal Maintenance Manager

SUPERVISORY WORK: No

SALARY: $28 to $32 per hour DOQ

Summary:

As the Terminal Maintenance Supervisor, you will have the responsibility of supervising the terminal maintenance team during your shift and assume overall leadership of the department in the absence of the Terminal Maintenance Manager. Duties will include managing the workflow and productivity of staff, coaching and mentoring team members, completing assigned administrative duties, and overseeing journeyman level maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems within the airport. You will be responsible for communicating and coordinating with contractors, tenants, and other airport employees.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Fill in for Terminal manager in their absence.
  • Communicate thoroughly with Terminal manager and Airport administration.
  • Oversee and assist with the preventative maintenance and repairs on baggage handling systems and passenger boarding bridges.
  • Ensure work orders are assigned and completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Assist manager with establishing priorities and worker schedules.
  • Complete administrative duties as assigned and/or are required.
  • Coach, mentor and counsel subordinate staff as needed.
  • Oversee and assist in the repair of terminal mechanical plants and related mechanical and electrical equipment including pumps, valves, motors, switchgear, motor control centers, breaker panels, and other components.
  • Surveying the overall condition of the terminal building and other airport facilities to determine any repairs that are needed.
  • Understanding of motor controls and PLC controls for electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Work closely with Automations and Controls Coordinator to maintain HVAC systems and air handlers.
  • Completing plumbing and electrical repairs and maintenance.
  • Assisting in snow removal operations during winter operations.
  • Ensure the completion of work orders and PM’s are correctly documented.
  • Other duties as assigned and as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of building and facility maintenance experience.
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience.
  • Journeyman to master level experience in mechanical and electrical repairs. (preferred)
  • Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license. Class B preferred.
  • Must pass a 10-year background check and drug/alcohol screening.
  • Movement area certified in 60 days and completion of FEMA N.I.M.S. in 30 days of employment. 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of building HVAC systems.
  • Knowledge of PLC, motor controls.
  • Knowledge of reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Knowledge of computers and various software programs.
  • Knowledge of plumbing and electrical repairs.
  • Skilled in data entry into an asset mgmt. program.
  • Skilled in mechanical repairs.
  • Skilled in communicating on technical matters.
  • Ability to lead a team in a technical and dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work shifts, weekends, holidays and 24-hour callout.
  • Ability to climb on and around catwalks, scaffolds, and equipment.
  • Ability to climb 150’ towers and operate aerial lifts to 100’.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to drive, balance, crouch, feel, finger, handle, pull, push, reach, stand, stoop, climb, see, hear, talk, type, and perform repetitive motions. Also requires the ability to make rational decisions, utilize critical thinking skills and exhibit strong cognitive abilities. The employee is required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 100 pounds of force to move objects. Work Environment:

This position works in all weather conditions indoors and outdoors and is subject to 24 hours call out. This position is subject to scheduled shift work anytime from 3:30 am until 9:30 p.m. 7 days a week. Scheduled shifts work 4 days on and 3 days off, 10-hour shifts. Subject to weekend work and overtime.
