JOB SUMMARY

The Test Automation Engineer is a detail-oriented team member who helps ensure the delivery of reliable, secure, accessible, and high-performing software products in a fast-moving AI-assisted engineering environment.

The Test Automation Engineer goes well above and beyond merely executing test cases at the end of the SDLC. This role blends deep manual testing expertise, modern automation engineering, AI-assisted quality workflows, and continuous validation practices throughout the software delivery lifecycle. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable performing exploratory testing, documenting complex edge cases, designing scalable automated test suites, and collaborating closely with product managers, developers, DevOps engineers, and UX teams.

This position requires someone who understands that excellent software quality comes from:

  • Human-driven investigative testing and risk analysis

  • Reliable, maintainable, and scalable automation frameworks

  • A fast feedback loop between developer and QA

The successful candidate will contribute to shift-left and shift-right quality strategies, CI/CD testing pipelines, production validation, and AI-enhanced testing practices while maintaining a strong focus on user experience, traceability, and documentation quality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manual Testing & Quality Validation

  • Execute comprehensive manual testing across CareTria’s suite of web and API applications and thoroughly document results

  • Perform exploratory, regression, smoke, integration, and end-to-end testing

  • Validate complex business workflows, edge cases, error handling, and data integrity

  • Reproduce, isolate, document, and track software defects with high-quality evidence and clear reproduction steps

  • Collaborate with product and development teams to clarify requirements and identify quality risks early

  • Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, and release deployments

  • Conduct production validation and post-release verification activities

Automation Engineering

  • Develop and maintain scalable automated test frameworks and pipelines

  • Build automated UI, API, integration, and regression tests

  • Maintain integration of automated testing into CI/CD pipelines

  • Improve test stability, reliability, execution speed, and maintainability

  • Monitor automated test execution results and triage failures efficiently

  • Contribute to continuous testing initiatives across the SDLC

Collaboration with Product & DevOps

  • Partner with product to test at the requirement level, and ensure User Stories are testable and well-defined

  • Champion shift-left quality practices by engaging early in requirements and design discussions

  • Support shift-right testing through observability, telemetry analysis, and production monitoring

  • Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams on deployment validation and release confidence

  • Help define quality metrics, release gates, and risk-based testing strategies
