Position Summary
We are seeking a Test Engineer II to lead the test system development and technical execution of product validation. The role is responsible for end-to-end ownership of test methodology design and execution for both new and legacy products from concept through qualification in compliance with applicable industry standards and customer requirements. Key responsibilities include the design and integration of custom test hardware, fixturing, and data acquisition and control systems to support testing requirements. The role collaborates with cross-functional engineering teams to translate design intent into effective validation plans and cost-efficient test solutions, while emphasizes accurate data capture, analysis, and documentation to inform engineering decisions, support certification, and meet customer deliverables. The Test Engineer will also oversee the operation, mechanical integrity, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory test equipment, while driving continuous improvement in reliability, efficiency, and data quality. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical expertise, structured problem-solving ability, mechanical aptitude, disciplined documentation practices, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure safety is the foundation of daily work through vigilance and accountability
- Lead the test system development and technical execution of product validation and activities.
- Develop and execute test methodologies for new and legacy products from concept through qualification, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
- Design mechanical test systems, fixtures, tooling, and equipment in accordance with engineering principles and project requirements.
- Perform engineering analyses, including stress, fatigue, and FEA, to support product validation and test system design.
- Design, configure, and operate hydraulic test equipment and systems.
- Design and maintain data acquisition and automation systems, for data capture and test controls.
- Support capital equipment planning and justification.
- Manage associated budget for assigned test project.
- Support project management plan and schedule for assigned test project.
- Interpret hydraulic schematics and implement reliable, repeatable test setups.
- Define and develop test protocols, procedures, and setups based on engineering requirements.
- Apply and validate Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5 standards.
- Develop comprehensive test plans, procedures, and reports to support product qualification.
- Provide technical support during qualification testing and validation programs.
- Conduct design and test reviews to ensure completeness, accuracy, and adherence to engineering best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance test reliability, efficiency, and technical rigor.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering curriculum with 2+ years prior relevant engineering experience, or Associate’s degree in engineering curriculum with 4+ years prior relevant engineering experience.
- Engineering experience with mechanical test systems, machine controls and instrumentation, design layout and engineering analysis.
This role is subject to compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), which requires the incumbent to be either a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident [“green card” holders] or have refugee or asylee status. Non-US Citizens may be restricted from certain programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Strong strategic thinking and structured problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficiency with core engineering tools and analytical methods.
- Working knowledge of engineering analyses, including stress, fatigue, FEA, vibration, thermal effects, wear, corrosion control, and material mechanical properties.
- Familiarity with reliability and risk assessment methods such as FMEA/FMECA.
- Experience using Mathcad or similar engineering calculation tools.
- Demonstrated application of sound engineering principles in design and validation.
- Ability to balance design requirements with manufacturing capabilities and constraints.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and drawing creation (Creo Parametric or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
- Knowledge of polymer materials, composites, rheology, and chemical interactions is a plus.
- Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
- Working knowledge of quality systems, configuration control, and data management systems.
- Familiarity with project planning and program management tools.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated with demonstrated technical leadership capability.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Ability to investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues, and communicate findings clearly.
