Job Summary:
The On the Job Trainer (OJT) is responsible for providing hands-on instruction, coaching, and performance evaluation to QC authorized drivers in a real world operating environment. OJT ensures drivers develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviors necessary to safely and effectively perform all job functions while adhering to company policies, customer requirements and regulatory requirements.

- Conduct hands-on training and mentoring of drivers during daily operations.
- Reinforce company safety policies, procedures, and expectations through practical application.
- Evaluate student performance in areas including but not limited to:
- Vehicle operation
- Hydrachem operation
- Hours of service
- Hazardous Materials Regulations
- SKYTANK
- Stop Work Authority (SWA)
- Proper truck, cargo tank, ISO and chassis inspections
- ISAAC functionality
- PPE requirements (donning and doffing)
- Safe unloading procedures (Pump/Pressure) per QC’s SOP
- Sampling procedure per QC’s SOP
- Drumming procedure per QC’s SOP
- Coupling/Uncoupling per QC’s SOP
- Observe and assess drivers' ability to identify and manage hazards and risks.
- Provide constructive feedback and corrective coaching to improve a student’s performance and promote safe work habits.
- Complete required training documentation, evaluations, and student trip reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Communicate trainee progress, strengths, concerns, and recommendations to management.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations, including DOT and hazardous materials requirements.
- Promote a positive learning environment that supports student development and retention.
- Serve as a role model for professionalism, safety, customer service, and operational excellence.
- Assist with refresher training and remedial training.
- Conduct and document driver road tests in accordance with Quality Carriers standards while ensuring compliance with all applicable FMCSA minimum qualification requirements and regulations.
- Conduct off site inspections i.e. QC Authorized drivers PPE, truck and cargo tank inspections (this occurs when no students are scheduled or as directed).

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 3-4 years in the bulk transportation industry.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tank endorsement.
- Minimum one year cargo tank experience including hazardous materials.
- Strong safety record and demonstrated commitment to regulatory compliance.
- Thorough knowledge of DOT regulations, Hours of Service, Hazardous Materials.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and develop drivers with varying experience levels.
- Strong organizational, observational, and problem solving skills.
- Ability to travel as required and work flexible schedules.

- This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are based on need.

- Ability to enter and exit commercial vehicles safely using 3 points of contact.

- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with loading, unloading, and inspecting equipment per company SOP’s, regulatory standards and best practices.
