Job Description

TITLE:                                         Mechanic                                                                    


 


REPORTS TO:                                        Shop Foreman                                                   


 


LENGTH OF CONTRACT OR WORK YEAR:             12 months (240 days)_                      


 



SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



  1. Performs, diagnoses and repairs district’s automotive diesel equipment.

  2. Promotes high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods in all work-connected areas.

  3. Performs general automotive diesel repair and preventive maintenance as required.

  4. Operate school bus as a substitute driver, when needed.

  5. Records all maintenance and report to district vehicles and equipment.

  6. Performs any other duties as assigned by the Shop Foreman or Director of Transportation.

  7. Regular in person attendance.


                                                                                                                                     


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  1. High school diploma or GED.

  2. Demonstrated success in performing a wide variety of tasks requiring an understanding of and proficiency at automotive diesel mechanical repair.

  3. Successful experience with recommendations from references.

  4. Evidence of ability to adapt to mechanical repair assignments made by the Shop Foreman or Director of Transportation.

  5. Satisfactory driving record with Commercial Drivers Licenses, class B with a “P” passenger, “S” school bus endorsement and Air Brakes endorsements.

  6. Satisfactory participation in DOT Random Testing


                                                                                                                                     


DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
