Job Description
Job Title: Field Service Technician
 
 
Position Description: The Traveling Field Service Technician is responsible for traveling throughout the United States to service, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mobile medical coaches and related systems. This role supports customers both onsite and remotely while ensuring all work is completed safely, professionally, and in compliance with company and industry standards.
 
This position requires extensive nationwide travel and the ability to work independently in the field while representing the company in a professional manner. The technician will work closely with the service manager to ensure customer satisfaction.
 
Essential job duties include but are not limited to:
  • Travel extensively throughout the United States to customer locations, hospitals, clinics, and job sites
  • Perform field service, diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting on mobile medical coaches and trailers
  • Install, inspect, and repair electrical, mechanical, HVAC, hydraulic, pneumatic, and structural systems as needed
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and complete required service documentation
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment failures efficiently to minimize customer downtime
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals, and technical documents
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and testing instruments safely and effectively
  • Communicate professionally with the service manager regarding repairs, findings, recommendations, and repair status updates
  • Complete service reports, work orders, expense reports, and travel documentation accurately and on time
  • Coordinate with internal departments to order parts, schedule repairs, and resolve technical issues
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA, DOT, company safety standards, and customer requirements
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, equipment, and inventory in proper working condition
  • Participate in emergency service calls and after-hours support as required
  • Support refurbishments and warranty work of new mobile medical units
  • Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and strong customer service while traveling and representing the company
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge/Skills:
  • Experience in electrical, mechanical, HVAC, trailer, RV, heavy equipment, automotive, or mobile medical industries preferred
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues independently
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Must be highly organized and self-motivated
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required
  • Must be able to pass background check and any site-specific requirements
 
Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical school certification or related field service experience preferred
Physical & Travel Requirements:
  • 100% nationwide travel required
  • Frequent overnight and extended travel assignments
  • Ability to travel on short notice when necessary
  • Must be comfortable working in various weather conditions and job site environments
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, bend, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces for extended periods
  • Ability to safely use tools and equipment in field environments
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and conditions
 
Additional requirements:
This is a full-time position. Employees are expected to work a general schedule of 8 to 10 hours per day, 5 days per week. Employees may be required to work beyond the standard schedule to meet the deliverables and expectations of the role. Employees should use their time wisely and constructively plan their day since there is limited daily oversight. This position primarily works in field environments including hospitals, clinics, customer facilities, service centers, and outdoor job sites. Work may involve exposure to noise, dust, weather conditions, and travel-related demands.
