POSITION SUMMARY
The Triage RN is responsible for providing, prescribing, delegating, and coordinating nursing care with other health care providers to meet holistic needs of patients. Documents patient condition and any changes in charts, schedules appointments, and communicates effectively to patients and providers.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES
- Manages nurse directed walk-ins and scheduling based on clinical judgement, utilizing physician when needed. Coordinating double booking and prioritizing timely follow up.
- Ensures appropriate and effective use of electronic health records by documenting triage calls, information obtained for prior authorizations and referrals, maintains HIPAA compliance with use of EMR, and navigated through EMR in order to facilitate care.
- Coordinating care by facilitating communication from care centers and outside facilities with primary care providers. Providing patient education, initiating referral process and details of referral (date, time and address).
- Accurately refills medication with verification and any changes to prescriptions, processes medication refill requests in timely manner (less than 24 hours), audits and communicates patient follow-up needs (annual physicals, lab recheck, etc.), communicates effectively with pharmacy to meet patient needs.
- Ensures prior authorizations are approved and completed accurately for patients by providing medical information for insurance company review, processes requests in timely manner, coordinates services for approved requests while communicating back to patients, appeals and submits additional information as needed.
- Promotes and ensures patient safety in performance of administering medications, treatments, procedures according to physician orders/nursing policy in a timely manner.
Hours: Minimum 36 hours/week, Monday-Friday 7:30am-5:00pm
Education, Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred
- Effective knowledge and familiarity with word processing, computer navigation, and e-mail
- A minimum of one to two years nursing experience preferred
- Prior rural clinic experience preferred
Certificates, Licensure, Registrations:
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska or multi state licensure in a nurse licensure compact state
- Valid Nebraska driver’s license
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
