As a TRIO Office Assistant, you will help support the TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program by welcoming students, assisting with daily office operations, providing peer support and tutoring, and helping plan student events and workshops. This position is a great opportunity to build your professional skills, gain office experience, and make a positive impact on fellow TRIO participants.Key Responsibilities
Job duties may include:
- Greeting students and visitors in a friendly, professional manner and helping them feel welcome in the TRIO space.
- Answering phone calls and checking students in and out using the TRIO digital system.
- Assisting TRIO SSS students with questions, navigating resources, and basic computer lab support.
- Providing peer tutoring assistance to other SSS participants in courses the student employee has successfully completed.
- Making copies, printing materials, and helping maintain office equipment and supplies.
- Assisting with the planning, setup, and cleanup of TRIO workshops, activities, and events.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming work area.
- Handling confidential student information responsibly and in accordance with College policies and student confidentiality expectations.
- Other duties as assigned by TRIO staff and/or department personnel.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
What you should know:
No previous work experience is required - training will be provided! We are looking for someone who is dependable, willing to learn, able to follow directions, and works well with others in a professional office environment.
Preferred Qualifications:- Friendly, professional attitude and willingness to assist others.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Dependable, trustworthy, and punctual.
- Basic working knowledge of office equipment, including computers, copiers, printers, and telephones.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information and follow confidentiality requirements.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position takes place in an office setting and may involve light physical activity such as setting up tables or moving supplies. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for special TRIO events.
Regular Department Hours of Operation:- Monday - Thursday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Student employees can work up to 20 hours per week. Your work schedule will be based on your availability and the staffing needs of that department.
