Schedule/Hours: Monday-Saturday/Hours Varies



 



This position is responsible for:



Drives Salvation Army truck along scheduled route to pick-up donations and/or deliver merchandise to 

customers. O
perates the truck in compliance with established Salvation Army standards and state driving 

regulations. Lifts, carries, loads and unloads variety of donations including furniture, appliances, clothing, 

etc. Ensures the safety, security, and accountability of the vehicle and donations at all times. Assists in 

performing work in the family store and warehouse.



 



Key Responsibilities:




  • Reviews scheduled pick-ups to ensure they are scheduled for the correct day of the week and geographical location.



 




  • Organizes scheduled pick-ups by most direct routes to save time and fuel consumption.



 




  • Inspects donated items briefly to ensure they can be used according to established policies and procedures; explains policy to customers regarding the types of items that can be accepted.



 




  • Unloads donations from truck upon arrival at warehouse; distributes items to appropriate locations in the warehouse.



 




  • Ensures the truck meets the scheduled maintenance and performs operators' maintenance in accordance with established standards.



Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:




  • Work requires riding in a vehicle daily with exposure to the outdoors where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

  • Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull heavy materials, supplies, and equipment frequently. Heavy mobility: duties are usually performed by combinations of standing, walking, climbing ladders or steps, bending, reaching, or transporting merchandise on frequent change basis relieved by fewer periods of sitting or operating a vehicle.

  • Work is performed in a stockroom, warehouse, or store environment where there are discomforts associated with changes in weather; there are occasional discomforts associated with noise, crowds, dust, lint, chemical odors and the like.
