ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Drives gasoline or diesel powered tractor trailer combination to transport and deliver products, or materials in liquid, loose, or packaged form by performing the following duties.
Interacts with customers in a courteous manner on delivery sites.
Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition.
Maintains driver log according to I.C.C. regulations and fills out I.F.T.A. fuel reports. Handles delivery slips between Shickel and customer.
Is responsible for safely loading, securing, transporting, and unloading company materials and equipment at customer job sites, as well as returning materials and assisting with material handling in the shop as needed.
Forklift certification is preferred but not required. The company will provide training and certification as needed.
Works safely, following safety guidelines in Shickel Corporation Safety Manual; attends department safety meetings, and report and/or corrects unsafe acts and conditions. Files injury reports same day of injury.
Exhibits teamwork and cooperation, as well as all policies and standards of behaviors contained in the Shickel Corporation Guidebook of Principles, Policies and Benefits.
Employee needs to have flexibility with work schedule; Hours may need to vary.
Responsible for safe and proper use of company vehicles, following all applicable S.C. policies, state and federal laws.
Effectively operate job-specific software, in addition to standard S.C. software, in a windows-based environment.
Employee will be familiar with and will perform duties as outlined in the Shickel Quality Management System.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Ability to efficiently operate vehicles utilizing a standard gear shift. Ability to perform basic data entry on a computer.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Maintains valid CDL Class A and is subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations under 49 CFR Part 382, including pre-employment, random, post-accident, and return-to-duty testing. Must maintain a driving record acceptable under Shickel Corporation and its Insurance carrier’s motor vehicle (MVR) standards. MVR checks will be conducted prior to hire and have continuous monitoring.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with variations in size of loads and destinations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Team lifting techniques or mechanical assist are available and encouraged for loads exceeding 50 pounds.
