POSITION SUMMARY
The Local Truck Driver is responsible for safely operating a 26‑foot box truck and, when required, a dually pickup truck pulling a flatbed gooseneck trailer to complete pickups and deliveries within a 100‑mile radius. This role supports daily logistics operations, material movement, and customer/vendor pickups while representing the company with professionalism and reliability.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Driving & Transportation
- Operate a 26‑ft box truck for scheduled pickups and deliveries.
- Operate a dually pickup truck towing a flatbed gooseneck trailer when required.
- Perform local routes within approximately 100 miles of the facility.
- Secure, load, and unload materials using proper tie‑down and safety procedures.
- Conduct pre‑trip, in‑route, and post‑trip inspections in compliance with DOT and company standards.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, paperwork, and electronic records.
Material Handling
- Safely handle pallets, crates, steel, equipment, or other materials as required.
- Work with warehouse and production teams to ensure correct items are picked up or delivered.
- Assist with loading/unloading using pallet jacks, straps, chains, or forklift (if certified).
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all DOT regulations, even when operating non‑CDL vehicles.
- Maintain a clean driving record and adhere to all company safety policies.
- Report vehicle issues, maintenance needs, or safety concerns immediately.
- Ensure proper weight distribution and securement of loads on both box truck and gooseneck trailer.
Customer & Vendor Interaction
- Represent the company professionally during pickups and deliveries.
- Communicate clearly with vendors, customers, and internal teams regarding timing, paperwork, and load requirements.
- Resolve basic delivery issues and escalate when needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid state driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Experience driving large vehicles such as box trucks, flatbeds, or dually pickups.
- Ability to tow and maneuver a gooseneck trailer safely.
- Ability to lift 50–75 lbs. and secure loads properly.
- Strong communication and time‑management skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with 26‑ft box trucks or similar commercial vehicles.
- Experience hauling flatbed or equipment trailers.
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain).
- CDL Class B or Class A (preferred but not required).
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Local driving only — home every day.
Mix of warehouse, yard, and on‑road environments.
Exposure to weather when loading/unloading or working with flatbed trailers.
