Position Summary
The Used Car Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and reconditioning pre-owned vehicles to dealership and manufacturer standards. This role requires strong technical knowledge, diligence, and the ability to perform a wide variety of repair and maintenance tasks. The Used Car Technician plays a critical role in maintaining the quality and reputation of Ron Marhofer Auto Family's used car inventory.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive inspections of used vehicles to identify necessary repairs and reconditioning needs.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and cosmetic issues as required.
- Complete multi-point inspections and ensure accurate documentation of findings.
- Perform maintenance services including oil changes, brakes, tires, and suspension work.
- Prepare accurate estimates of parts, labor, and time required for repairs.
- Work with the Used Car Manager and Service Advisors to prioritize reconditioning work.
- Ensure all repairs and reconditioning meet dealership and manufacturer standards.
- Road-test vehicles to verify the quality of repairs performed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and safely store tools and equipment.
- Follow all dealership, OSHA, and EPA safety guidelines when handling tools, equipment, and materials.
Marginal Duties
- Assist in training apprentice technicians when needed.
- Stay current with manufacturer bulletins and technical updates.
- Support the service team with additional repair work when required.
- Participate in dealership training programs to enhance technical knowledge.
Qualifications
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations
- Valid driver's license meeting dealership insurability requirements.
- ASE Certification (preferred but not required).
- State inspection license (if applicable).
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand and move for up to 8 hours per shift.
- Lift up to forty pounds without restrictions.
- Enter and exit vehicles frequently.
- Perform inspections requiring bending, kneeling, and reaching.
