Summary
The Validation Technician I is principally responsible for sample product assembly, environmental chamber testing, data capture, and laboratory organization. They follow validation standards and testing protocols, prepare equipment, document test results, and maintain records for later analysis. They interact with individuals from product development, manufacturing, and operations. The Validation Technician I will require guidance in organizing and conducting day-to-day test activities which include initiating and terminating testing. The Validation Technician will report directly to the Director of Validation.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Execution of validation protocols that consist of testing shipping containers and/or subcomponents against simulated ambient thermal conditions
- Organize and maintain inventory of validation and packaging lab supplies including sample product, product subcomponents, and ancillary materials
- Conduct incoming bulk chemical inspections and perform required adjustments and recertifications as needed
- Capture production data in a production environment, using production machinery, along with interacting and working with machine operators
- Operation of a CNC corrugate cutting table to produce components for customer product samples and/or production
- Maintain a high level of organization and consistency with cleanliness with regards to a laboratory setting, material inventory, electronic data storage, spreadsheets, and project files
- Perform preventative maintenance and maintain calibration schedule of testing equipment and oversee an inventory of validation supplies
- Configure testing interface for data capture
- Execute chamber qualification after scheduled maintenance and/or calibration has been completed
- Repair and maintain thermocouple probes and wiring harnesses
- Perform additional special projects as needed to support product release and/or technical service investigation activities
- Update, maintain, and enforce laboratory safety, working instructions and standard procedures
- Be willing to act with a sense of urgency and take ownership of the work they are assigned
Qualifications/Experience
- High School Diploma, or GED, and 1 to 2 years work experience in lab/testing environment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing priorities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Outstanding communication skills (both written & verbal) are a must
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Self-motivated and driven to exceed goals
- Ability to occasionally work on the weekends
- Experience with using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Likes autonomy and accountability; being comfortable with both
Salary Range: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour

- Laboratory Equipment: General hand tools, power tools, cutting knives, low voltage electrical wiring, tape dispenser, tape gun, glue gun. Operating a pallet jack and moving pallets around the lab/warehouse.
