The Role
We’re seeking a Value Engineer. This role partners closely with Sales, Presales, and Customer Experience teams to help enterprise customers understand and realize the measurable value of Esker’s solutions. Acting as a strategic advisor, you will lead discovery efforts, quantify business impact, and build executive-ready business cases that support complex sales opportunities. Your work will directly influence deal outcomes, customer success, and Esker’s ability to position itself as a long-term partner to the Office of the CFO.
Key Tasks/Duties:
Drive Value-Based Customer Engagement
Partner with Business Development Managers and Sales Engineers to support enterprise sales opportunities
Lead discovery sessions and cross-functional workshops with Finance, Procurement, Shared Services, Customer Service, and Operations stakeholders
Identify process inefficiencies, risks, and transformation opportunities across core business processes
Translate operational challenges into quantified business impact (e.g., working capital improvements, cost savings, cycle time reduction, compliance, and experience improvements)
Build Business Cases and Executive Assets
Develop ROI models, TCO analyses, and financial justifications using customer data and benchmarks
Create executive-ready deliverables including ROI summaries, benchmark analyses, business cases, and transformation roadmaps
Present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders (CFOs, Finance Directors, Operations leaders)
Shape Strategy and Influence Deals
Provide strategic input on deal positioning and differentiation through value-based storytelling
Identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities across Esker’s solution portfolio
Collaborate with Marketing, Product, and Customer Success teams to refine value messaging and frameworks
Scale Value Engineering Capabilities
Build and enhance scalable ROI tools, calculators, and value methodologies
Train and coach Sales and Presales teams on value-based selling, financial storytelling, and business case development
Leverage industry benchmarks, analyst insights, and market trends to continuously evolve methodologies
Essential Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
8+ years of experience in Value Engineering, Presales, Management Consulting, Finance, or similar customer-facing roles
5+ years of experience in enterprise SaaS or high-growth technology environments
Demonstrated experience building ROI models, financial business cases, or value assessments for enterprise customers
Experience supporting complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles and engaging senior decision-makers
Strong understanding of key enterprise processes (e.g., Order-to-Cash, Accounts Receivable/Payable, Source-to-Pay, Customer Service)
Familiarity with ERP ecosystems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or NetSuite
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills in a consultative sales environment
Proficiency in Excel (financial modeling/analysis) and PowerPoint (executive-level presentations)
Fluent in English required AND fluent/business proficiency in Spanish or Italian required
Working Conditions:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Travel:
Ability to travel up to 30% of working hours
Salary Range: $165,000 - $190,000 + variable compensation
