VDC/BIM Specialist
As a member of the ANDRES Operations Technology team, the VDC Specialist supports the implementation of BIM and VDC services across all phases of the construction process. By working closely with the Operations Technology and Preconstruction teams, the VDC Specialist develops models, coordinates project information, and facilitates collaboration to improve efficiency, reduce risk, and add value. This role supports ANDRES’ continued success in Dallas, Austin, and Houston.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Vision & Corporate Integration
Develop and implement the corporate vision and plan for integrating VDC into company operations
Develop ANDRES’ VDC capabilities and capacity across projects and teams
Focus on adding value to projects through VDC processes and technologies
Lead and manage all VDC projects and initiatives to ensure alignment with company objectives
Project Coordination & BIM Execution
Develop project-specific BIM Implementation Plans (BIP) and BIM Execution Plans (BEP) for new projects
Assist Preconstruction teams by leveraging BIM tools for quantity takeoffs (QTO), coordination, and planning
Develop and maintain project BIM schedules
Host 3D clash detection meetings and coordinate model reviews with project teams
Modeling & Technical Support
Build high-quality models or further develop existing models for use across all project phases
Facilitate modeling of mock-ups, critical details, missing information, and logistics/sequence plans
Set up VDC field equipment and software (e.g., TopCon) to support field operations
Assist in implementing SiteAware technology across projects
Education & Collaboration
Educate project team members on VDC processes and BIM applications to enhance project efficiency
Utilize VDC capabilities to assist design partners in resolving issues proactively, preventing delays or cost impacts
Share best practices and lessons learned with project teams through the ANDRES Forum
Continuous Improvement & Value Creation
Seek continuous improvement in VDC processes and eliminate waste wherever possible
Utilize VDC capabilities to generate client confidence, trust, and added project value
Qualifications:
Personally exhibit and mentor others to foster our culture guided by following ANDRES' five Core Values (Collaboration, Community, Conviction, Integrity, Respect)
B.S. in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field
1-3+ years of experience with BIM/technology programs
Well-rounded, basic knowledge and experience with the design and construction process
Proficient in modeling with Revit
Experience with modeling in Tekla, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Sketch-Up, or other modeling software is a plus
Experience in MEP coordination is preferred
Experience with Navisworks Manage and 4D schedules is a plus
Able to quickly learn new software tools and teach others
