About the Department

This is a contracted appointment that may last up to two years in duration. Paid internships occur throughout the State of Michigan.

This position completes program inventory, monitoring of the program email inbox, assisting with program operations, attending trainings and events, sending mailings to customers, organizing and maintaining stock rooms, and additional program support as necessary. Receives and responds to inquiries by providing directions, instructions, promotional material, or other general information or referring such inquiries to the appropriate persons. Performs typing duties incidental to the work. Enters, retrieves, updates, verifies, and deletes information from manual and electronic files. Operates standard office equipment. Collects, sorts, batches, alphabetizes, codes, and/or places in numerical order various documents for filing, storage, or processing. Receives and responds to requests for information.

To be considered for this position you must: 

  • Be an honorably discharged veteran.
  • As part of the application process, please attach a copy of your DD-214 to your application. This document will be required in order to serve in the internship program.

MDOT does not participate in E-Verify and does not sponsor visa applications.

All newly hired state employees are required to submit and pass a pre-employment drug test and physical (if applicable) prior to their actual appointment. Criminal and driving records will also be checked if applicable. Any position offer will be conditional until results of the drug test, physical, criminal background, and driving records indicate eligibility for employment.
