This position is located onsite in Hampton Roads, Virginia.


Job Overview

The Video Teleconference Technician operates and supports video teleconferencing and associated audiovisual systems. Responsibilities include operating equipment, assisting users during conferencing sessions, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining documentation related to conferencing activities. 


Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties:

  • Operate video teleconferencing equipment including powering equipment on, verifying proper operation, setting audio levels, and positioning camera functions. 
  • Perform secure and non-secure video teleconference setup. 
  • Operate or assist in operating session control panels, studio control units, and associated audiovisual equipment. 
  • Provide assistance to users conducting video teleconference sessions including conference preparation. 
  • Monitor video teleconference equipment and system performance during conferences; perform Tier I troubleshooting and operational support to ensure stable conferencing system operations, including connection setup and monitoring. 
  • Implement troubleshooting procedures for loss of connection, degraded connection, or other conferencing system anomalies and escalate unresolved issues to higher-level technical support when required. 
  • Provide on-site technical assistance for issue resolution, fault analysis, testing, and restoration of NIWC Atlantic
  • Unified Communications systems. 
  • Support local unmanned sites and travel within the Hampton Roads area when required to provide technical assistance within required response timelines. 
  • Perform system checks and dial-in connection verification for unclassified and secure conferences. 
  • Maintain detailed logs of conferencing activities and operational actions, including participants, conference identification, host point of contact, scheduling activity, conference duration, and issues encountered. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Record technical information including bandwidth utilization and connection path information. 
  • Assist users with operation of video teleconference equipment and associated audiovisual equipment including briefing computers and projectors. 
  • Provide basic instruction to personnel on the operation of video teleconference equipment and associated audiovisual systems. 
  • Assist with inventory, disposition, and disposal activities for defective, non-repairable, or end-of-life audiovisual and conferencing equipment. 

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Top Secret eligibility and access required.
  • Experience supporting video teleconferencing, audiovisual, or collaboration systems. 

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed 100% on-site in secure government facilities supporting video teleconferencing and collaboration system operations.
