Job Summary
Performs wardrobe counter duties including assisting team members with uniform dry cleaning and/or rental orders, documenting requests, and handling complaints. Responsible for all aspects of wardrobe inventory control, including shipping, receiving, and distribution of owned and rental uniform inventory. • Effectively and efficiently assists guests with garments requests.• Assists with uniform dry cleaning and/or rental orders.
• Documents requests and handles complaints.
• Receives, sorts, stores, and distributes dry cleaned uniforms and rental program uniforms.
• Takes accurate body measurements and communicates measurements to Seamstress for accurate alterations.
• Maintains accurate and organized records and files as assigned.
• Assumes responsibility of sewing, repairing, making, mending and/or altering garments
• Sorts, inspects, measures and cuts fabric using traditional sewing and tailoring techniques to achieve professional results.
• Performs hand sewing to make, fashion, repair, or alter garments and linens according to department policies.
• Measures guest for size, using tape measure or pins, and record measurements.
• Alters garment join parts, using needle and thread or sewing machine, to form finish garment.
• Sews buttons and buttonholes to finish garment.
• Presses garment, using hand iron or pressing machine.
• Confers with guest to determine type of material and garment style desired.
• Positions patterns of garment parts on fabric, and cuts fabric along outlines, using scissors.
• Maintains inventory level by accurately tracking garments that are distributed and collected.
• Participates in weekly cycle counts and researches all inventory variances.
• Maintains inventory levels by accurately tracking uniforms that are distributed and collected, and provides information to Wardrobe Supervisor.
• Takes accurate body measurements and pulls uniform garments from wardrobe inventory and issues them for alterations or to team members.
• Tags and/or marks garments as needed.
• Operates industrial sewing machine in order to complete job tasks.
• Operates industrial sewing machines, changes needles and threads in a safe and efficient manner.
• Troubleshoots any problems with the sewing machine as applicable. Coordinates service calls as necessary.
• Maintains knowledge of current marketing promotions and/or special events.
• Ensures that work area is clean, safe, secure, and well maintained.
• Establishes and maintains professional working relations with internal and external guests.
• Attends and participates in meetings as required.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
• Does not provide supervision to others.
• High school diploma or General education degree (GED) preferred.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in a professional alterations or seamstress/tailor capacity required.
• 2 years of tailoring experience is required.
• Very good verbal and written communication skills.
• Very good interpersonal skills.
• Very good organization skills.
• Working knowledge of computer system and Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel preferred.
• Must be proficient with standard sewing techniques and procedures.
• Basic garment construction techniques.
• Ability to operate an industrial sewing machine and perform routine maintenance.
• Must be able to use a ruler and read measurements.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail, multitask, and manage time.
• Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality.
• Ability to work in a high pressure, deadline oriented, and fast paced environment.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate company and team members’ needs.
