Role Summary
The Warehouse Operations Specialist is a full-time, on-site position based at Precon's office and warehouse in Rockville, Maryland, reporting directly to the Director of Warehouse Operations. This hands-on role supports the preparation, fabrication, installation, and maintenance of the equipment, scenic elements, and custom environments that bring Precon's events to life. Working closely with the Director of Warehouse Operations, Project Managers, Production teams, and field crews, the Warehouse Operations Specialist helps ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to Precon's quality standards. This position plays an active role in warehouse operations, scenic fabrication, inventory preparation, and event installations. The ideal candidate enjoys building, problem-solving, and working in a fast-paced production environment where every day brings new challenges. This is an on-site position with hours that vary based on production schedules, event timelines, and client needs. When not supporting on-site installations, this position works from the Precon office and warehouse during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, with time tracked in accordance with Precon's payroll and timekeeping policies. This position may require occasional travel.
Key Responsibilities
The person in this role must be a collaborative team player who can manage multiple priorities while working across Precon's departments. The Warehouse Operations Specialist is responsible for the following:
- Work closely with the Director of Warehouse Operations, project teams, and field crews to prepare, fabricate, install, and dismantle scenic elements and other event components.
- Participate in the fabrication of custom scenic elements and event components.
- Identify production and operational challenges, recommend practical solutions, and assist with troubleshooting throughout the fabrication and installation process.
- Participate in client site inspections, pre-production meetings, and project walkthroughs as needed to support successful event execution.
- Help maintain a high level of warehouse readiness by preparing equipment, organizing workspaces, and ensuring event materials are ready for deployment.
- Serve as a key member of on-site installation and dismantle crews for scenic elements, pipe and drape, lighting, décor, staging, and related event equipment, taking the lead on assigned tasks and work areas as needed.
- Assist with sourcing materials, specialty supplies, and fabrication-related equipment as needed.
- Support the Director of Warehouse Operations in maintaining the organization, functionality, safety, and cleanliness of the warehouse, scenic inventory, workshop, and fabrication areas.
- Assist with the preparation, loading, unloading, and secure transport of trucks, shipping crates, and event materials.
- Work alongside seasonal crew members, providing guidance and support to help ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality event execution.
- Communicate project progress, material needs, and potential issues to the Director of Warehouse Operations to help keep projects on schedule.
- Perform other duties and special projects assigned in support of Precon's clients, team, and continued growth.
Preferred Location & Travel Requirements
This is a full-time, warehouse-based role requiring significant onsite presence. This role is deeply integrated with Precon’s production, fabrication, and event operations and requires regular onsite presence. Candidates should expect to travel to production facilities, venues, and event sites as needed to support planning and execution. Flexibility is critical, as event schedules and operational demands may occasionally require evening, weekend, and travel commitments.

We're looking for someone who enjoys building things, solving problems, and working as part of a collaborative warehouse and production team. The ideal candidate is hands-on, takes pride in quality craftsmanship, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- At least two years of experience in live events, experiential marketing, trade shows, theater, exhibit production, scenic fabrication, construction, or a related production environment.
- Hands-on experience with carpentry, painting, general construction, scenic fabrication, exhibit installation, or similar skilled trades.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing schedules and deadlines.
- A positive, collaborative, and solutions-oriented approach to working with teammates, clients, and seasonal crews.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings, weekends, and travel, based on production schedules and event needs.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to operate vehicles up to a 26-foot straight truck (CDL not required).
You'll stand out if you have experience with:
- You have experience in experiential marketing, exhibit production, themed entertainment, theater, museum exhibits, or custom millwork.
- You have experience installing adhesive graphics, vinyl, or similar substrates.
- You're comfortable working both in a fabrication shop and on-site at client events.
- You take pride in craftsmanship, organization, and delivering high-quality work.
