Job Description

POSITION-SUMMARY:

The Warranty Engineer leads the warranty system for assigned products and sites in an organized, timely, and well documented manner to meet the expectations of internal and external customers which will improve quality and lower costs. They will implement a pro-active approach to warranty and drive continuous improvement in the warranty system. They will escalate issues as needed and comply with quality system and documentation requirements. All while working as part of cross functional teams often including customers.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

With a focus on continuous improvement and a reduction in warranty costs: · Lead cross-functional teams for corrective actions and analysis (8D reports) · Review, provide input and approve warranty related reports · Review warranty charges for compliance to agreements with customers and dispute discrepancies / provide acceptance of charges. · Maintain monthly health charts as required · Navigate customer websites to retrieve/review warranty claims and information if needed · Support Warranty Oversight Commitee initatives and updates · Update and maintain warranty database related files. · Collect, analyze, interpret and share warranty information appropriately (FAN charts; MIS; etc.…). · Complete warranty part return analysis and create a customer ready lab report including conclusions. · Build warranty predictive models to calculate future risk when needed (Weibull) · Supervise warranty admins and techs when defined.

· Monitor customer related warranty data for out of control warranty; report and react accordingly,

escalation when needed.

· Lead Warranty Improvement Teams with Product Engineering and Plant Quality when needed

· Capture and document warranty lessons learned


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE:

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering

· Recommended background in automotive with manufacturing, quality or product engineering.

· Knowledge in quality problem solving techniques: 5 why’s, Ishikawa, 8 D’s, A3’s

· Required knowledge about understanding of core tools; APQP, MSA, SPC, PPAP’s, PCP, and FMEAs

· Expertise required for data handling, graphs, analysis, and presentations with the ability to draw conclusions from the analysis.

· Recommended experience working with embedded software and hardware.

· Ability to create and deliver clear, persuasive presentations

· Experience working in global project team

· Strong organizational skills

· Strong verbal and written communication skills in English with ability to interact with all levels in the organization
