Overview:

The Welder I at Sure Steel, Inc. is an entry-level position responsible for performing basic welding tasks to support the fabrication of steel components. This role involves following detailed instructions, operating welding equipment safely, and ensuring high-quality welds. The Welder I will work under the supervision of experienced welders and supervisors to develop their skills and contribute to the successful completion of projects.



Key Responsibilities:

1.    Welding Operations:


-    Perform basic welding tasks, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding, on steel components.

-    Follow welding procedures and specifications to ensure high-quality welds.

-    Operate welding equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to company standards and guidelines.

2.    Material Preparation:

-    Prepare materials for welding, including cutting, grinding, and cleaning surfaces.

-    Set up welding equipment and select appropriate settings based on material and project requirements.

-    Assist in the layout and assembly of components to be welded.

3.    Quality Control:

-    Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.

-    Identify and repair defects in welds, such as cracks, porosity, and incomplete fusion.

-    Maintain accurate records of welding activities and quality checks.

4.    Safety and Compliance:

-    Follow all safety procedures and protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

-    Participate in safety training and drills to stay current with best practices.

-    Report any safety incidents or near-misses to the supervisor immediately.

5.    Equipment Maintenance:

-    Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on welding equipment.

-    Ensure welding tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.

-    Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the supervisor.

6.    Team Collaboration:

-    Work closely with other welders, fabricators, and shop personnel to support project needs.

-    Communicate effectively with team members to ensure clear understanding of tasks and responsibilities.

-    Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.
