CHL Systems is hiring a Welder II to fabricate and weld stainless steel components used in custom automation and material handling systems. This is a hands-on role for an experienced welder who is confident with TIG welding, blueprint reading, fit-up, and producing clean, accurate work.

What You’ll Do
- Perform TIG welding on stainless steel components as the primary focus, with MIG welding as needed
- Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, dimensions, and tolerances
- Lay out, fit, and fabricate weldments from drawings and work instructions
- Set up welding machines, select appropriate settings, and prepare materials for each job
- Grind, cut, bend, straighten, polish, repair, and rework stainless steel components as needed
- Inspect your own work to verify weld quality, fit, finish, and conformance to requirements
- Use shop math, including angles, radius, circumference, conversions, and proportions
- Work safely around welding equipment, gases, material handling equipment, and shop machinery
- Collaborate with welders, fabricators, supervisors, and other production team members
What We’re Looking For
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of welding and fabrication experience, or equivalent demonstrated skill
- Strong TIG/GTAW welding experience, especially with stainless steel
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret weld symbols, dimensions, and tolerances
- Ability to set up equipment and fabricate weldments with minimal supervision
Preferred
- Welding trade certification, technical school training, or journeyman status
- MIG/GMAW or FCAW experience is a plus
- Experience grinding, polishing, and finishing stainless steel components
- Knowledge of distortion control, metallurgy basics, and straightening techniques
- Strong shop math skills for measurements, angles, layout, and fit-up work

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- This is an on-site role in a manufacturing/shop environment
- Work is performed around welding equipment, fabrication tools, machinery, and active production areas
- Regular standing, walking, reaching, handling, bending, kneeling, crouching, and movement throughout the workday is required
- Exposure to loud noise, fumes, airborne particles, vibration, moving mechanical parts, and shop activity may occur
- PPE must be worn in designated areas and safety procedures must be followed
- Must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally
- Work may involve forklifts, side loaders, overhead cranes, and other shop or material handling equipment
- Occasional overtime may be required based on production schedules
