POSITION SUMMARY:
The Welder is responsible for performing a variety of welding and fabrication tasks on drilling rigs and associated equipment. The role involves joining piping and metal components, fabricating parts, repairing tools and machinery, and ensuring all work meets required specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To perform various welding processes on drilling rigs and associated equipment. Under direct supervision, has responsibility for joining piping and other metal components, makes metal parts used in drilling, and weld parts, tools, machines and equipment. Read blueprints, layouts and work orders.
- Must be able to weld to specific tolerances.
- Must maintain welding equipment e.g. tips, wires etc.
- Must be able to produce required quantities of products of varying sizes and complexity.
- Must be able to fabricate products.
- Maintain clean and safe environment.
- Work assignments carried out to the highest quality level.
- Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.
- To liaise with the Rig Manager, Driller, Electrician and Mechanic to schedule major overhauls of rig equipment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- HS diploma or GED.
- Welding certification (s) – depending on the type of welding job.
- Preferably 5+ years welding experience in the drilling industry. Entry level will be considered.
- Should possess current 1st Aid, CPR, or be willing to go through the training once employed.
- Ability to read, write and speak English to be able to understand verbal and written instructions.
- Possess hazard awareness necessary to operate safely within the drilling environment.
- Able to work in high places for extended periods of time.
- Ability to climb tall flights of stairs, work out of a riding harness and lift 50 lbs.
- MUST pass urinary drug screening.
