Description
Summary
This position supervises and coordinates the operations of the WIC program in accordance with federal and state grant guidelines and department operating procedures. This position is under the direct supervision of the Health Department Director and/or his/her designee.
Definition and Examples of Work
30% | Provide leadership and hands-on assistance to WIC program and the Health Department in accordance with WIC, State, County, and Health Department policies and procedures.

25% | Administer WIC program requirements
|
25% | Manage WIC employees and provide leadership
|
20% | Establish community connections (meetings, events, educational programs, etc.)
|
Additional duties may be assigned as business needs require.
Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively with public, clientele and staff per all modes of communication.
- Ability to coordinate referral services.
- Ability to maintain accurate records of services provided.
- Ability to work with numbers for budgeting purposes
- Knowledge and experience in word processing and spreadsheet software, including the ability to type accurately with moderate speed.
- Knowledge of community, state and federal services.
- Knowledge of grant program budgeting and documentation procedures.
- Knowledge of health record-keeping procedures.
- Knowledge of health testing and assessment procedures.
- Knowledge of public health service principles and practice.
- Knowledge of substance abuse systems and all other referrals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet use.
- Ability to learn and use Kansas WIC computer software program.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
- Ability to operate of general office equipment, including typewriter, computer, scanner, copier.
Certification, License, Registration
- Valid driver license
- Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certifications
- Ability to obtain Defensive Driving certification
Other Requirements
- Occasional travel
- Occasional overtime
- Regular and reliable attendance onsite at work location
