Job Objective:
Re-Entry Career Advisors provide continuous employer-readiness feedback to customers with a criminal history through individual coaching and case management activities resulting in quality hires by employers. This position creates an inviting and motivating environment focused on employers demands and ensures the customer is actively engaged with services during their job search until employment is reached. All coaching and services are rooted in strong, relevant, and current employer intelligence including industry-based labor market information, employer skills and demands as well as available job openings. This position is responsible for maintaining a caseload of identified customers and assisting them with employer readiness skills, up-skilling, developing job search skills, resume development, interviewing skills and other proficiencies related to obtaining, holding and advancing in their chosen career as well as job placement. The primary objectives for the Career Advisors are on-going customer engagement, job placements and increased wages. This position reports to WDS WIOA Team Lead, who evaluates performance annually.
Essential Job Functions:
- Knows and understands the Goodwill Mission: Strengthen communities by empowering individuals and families through education, training and job placement.
- Facilitate and interpret skills assessments.
- Always maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
- Identify each customers barriers to employment and services to address them.
- Facilitate a variety of employment and skill development services for customers addressing their needs in the areas of education, employment and supportive services and ultimately moving the customer into employment.
- Develop academic and career plans with customers to establish appropriate career goals and specific plans for WorkOne services, skills development activities and job search strategies.
- Refer customers to in-house training or classes at outside training providers.
- Provide training vouchers and associated forms to institutions and program service providers.
- Refer qualified and job ready customers to job orders.
- Assess customers financial need when necessary to justify WorkOne expenditures.
- Maintain files within the computer databases ensuring proper documentation is available to support program eligibility and services received.
- Maintain knowledge of, communication with and where applicable provide direct service to other community agencies, programs and training offered. Appropriately refer individuals to community and partner agencies.
- Submit required reports in a timely manner.
- Contribute as a team member to ensure WorkOne Center performance standards are met and/or exceeded, and in compliance with Federal, State, Regional and WorkOne standards.
- Promote WorkOne products and resources to customers.
- Ensures the quality and accuracy for the records of WorkOne customers in follow up.
- Keep abreast to the current business industry specific information available within our region.
- Attend meetings as assigned.
- Other tasks and special projects as assigned.
