Work Experience Specialist

Help Group’s Vocational Programs empower teens and adults with disabilities to explore careers, gain hands-on experience, and build independence. Through coaching and community partnerships, we help individuals discover their strengths and thrive in inclusive work environments.


Position Details:

  • Full-Time: Monday – Friday 9:00 – 5:30
  • Location: Sherman Oaks 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with school principals, teachers, and the Vocational Director, to ensure that the work experience programs are designed and implemented to meet the goals and expectations of the funders
  • Provide coordination and oversight of elements of the work experience programs
  • Ensure that all necessary work experience documentation, data collection, records, data entry, files, and reports are proper, timely, and in compliance with program requirements.  
  • Ensure that student records are maintained accurately and appropriately
  • Ensure the development of student vocational goals and objectives, and develop both on and off campus, paid and unpaid jobs for students
  • Ensure or provide necessary training, supervision, and coaching for students placed in employment positions
  • Provide ongoing assessment and evaluation of the work experience programs in order to identify ways to continually enhance and enrich the program
  • Participate in CPI training and maintain certification using techniques as needed in accordance with school policy for situation control in a crisis
  • Participate in planning meetings, client case conferences, ITPs/IEPs, meetings with therapists, school personnel, and outside agency representatives, as needed
  • Attend trainings, conferences, and vocational meetings as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (not required)
  • Minimum of 2 years of direct experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, intellectual disabilities, and/or developmental disabilities
  • Experience in special education, vocational rehabilitation, psychology, or a related field preferred
  • Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Strong organizational skills, flexibility, and ability to manage a dynamic caseload

The salary range represents the low and high end of the salary someone in this role may earn as an employee of Help Group. Salaries will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to, professional and academic experience, certification, training, responsibilities of the position, and other business and organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees. Salary decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each hire.
